16x7 Rays Engineering Volk TE-37 Wheels

For the street, I wanted a rim that didn't exist; it had to be lightweight, inexpensive, and strong enough to last, it had to fit the less common bolt pattern and offset of the Type R, and it had to appeal to me aesthetically. I love the gunmetal color of the stock rims, and looked around for something in that hue...nothing met my impossible list of criteria. As the possibilities dwindled to a very short list, I also noticed that the price of my options had shot up a bit from my initial less-than-200-per-wheel criteria. Well, the car is pretty special, no sense in cutting corners...so I decided to shop around for a Forged racing wheel with a good repuation on the R. Three possibilities (that I like the look of): Volk TE-37, Spoon SW-388, and Mugen MF-10. All come in dark colors, all are forged, and all weigh less than 12 lbs. in a 16x7. Also, they all list at more than 400 per wheel....I shopped around and Dan at GodSpeed Motorsports got me a really good deal on the Volks, one that I couldn't refuse. Matt was kind enough to take a couple to his workplace and weigh them on a pretty accurate scale, 12.2 and 12.4 lbs. were the results for the two...a little heavier than advertised, but still lighter than stock, and they're an inch bigger in both width and height. The fit and finish of the wheels is beyond compare. The wheels took a little more than a month to arrive from Japan, but that's not bad for Volks, kudos to Dan for the great price and the great service! Currently mounted to Pirelli P7000s, these worked great all summer and still look brand spankin new when you run some soap & water on them.

The little covers on each wheel blew my mind...attention to detail!

The bronze should look pretty wicked on the black ITR.

Finally got the Pirellis Mounted! And was amazed to find that the wheels came with a full set of "regular" tapered lugs (gonna use my lightweight ones, naturally, but nice to have extras), some blue-annodized RAYS valve stems (they looked hideous on the blue, so I opted to use regular black ones...I may sell these, they are pretty trick), and only two aluminum hub-centering rings...the rings are super-tight, i actually want an easier-to-remove and put-back-on alot plastic ring set, those are coming from Discount Tire Direct and are made by Gorilla. The metal rings are 73ø x 64.1ø , the gorilla pieces will be looser around the hub by .05mm at 73ø x 64.15ø.

I sold these valvestems to a Honda-Tech member in california, hope he found them blue enough!

FINALLY MOUNTED!!!
