Steelies!

Well, it's that time in pittsburgh when the leaves start to change and the sun goes on hiatus from warming the northern hemisphere...time to start thinking about cold weather traction. My stock rims have been wearing V700 race tires since summer, my Volks are shod in summer-compound and pretty wide P7000s...used to be with my GS-R that i had some all-season tires that i'd swap back and forth on the stock rims, but this year i was thinking about a new set of wheels entirely, something cheap and alloy, or maybe even steel wheels if the opportunity arose. Zygspeed from Honda-Tech picked up on my psychic energy, he contacted me asking if i wanted to buy a set of steel wheels that he has sitting in his garage in Ohio. We settled on a price so low it's almost ridiculous, so thanks agian to Zyg for his generosity, if you ever need to clear our your garage again feel free to contact me :). The wheels had some surface rust and a little bit of flaking, so i bought a steel-wire brush and went to town, cleaned them with soap & water after they were de-rusted, and then took a can of flat black high-temp rustolieum and painted them...not the best paint job in the world, but they're steelies, so who really cares? The tires aren't actually all-season (no M+S designation), so i'll see how they fare in the colder climates, and trust my chains to work if things get desperate. Again, for the money i can't complain...and when these tires die i'll put a more dedicated winter tire on. The mud in the fenderwells is from the pits at Nelson Ledges, i haven't been rallying the R, promise. And the R looks bad ass in black wheels! Finally, the car looks pretty low in the back, i didn't get springs or anything, there's just a ton of racing stuff in the hatch (another set of wheels, jack etc.)
