BELL MAG-4 Helmet
Shortly after I started racing, I decided that loaner helmets were gross enough to tie with running barefoot over a field of earthworms. Not that my fellow racers aren't sticklers for personal hygene, but there's alot of reasons to get a decent brain bucket...among them, to protect your brain should it do something stupid with a powerful car. The BELL MAG-4 isn't that light, and it's not that pretty, but it's a good, safe, and relatively inexpensive helmet. This is an SA helmet, so it has a layer of fire-retardant material, which cracks me up considering it's open-faced. If i continue to persue more serious racing, I'll eventually upgrade to a lighter closed-face helmet, but for AutoX and occasional track time, this is fine. And finally, you gotta make it your own, so I went with a variation on the Star Wars Rebel-pilot theme...."Luke..Luke... hard left at the next cone, Luke."
