9005 High-Beam Bulbs in Low-Beam Sockets

The ultimate lighting bargain! Go to Wal-Mart or Pep-Boys or whichever evil corporate chain you feel like supporting, and buy two 9005 high-beam bulbs for your Integra. Take out the factory low-beam bulbs, and compare them to the new ones. They're the same size...same basic interface...but there's 2 differences. Low-beams have one plastic rail in the socket, high-beams have 2 rails. And looking at the "front" of the bulbs (as they'd mount in your car), you'll see the high-beams have a tab that goes one way, and the low-beams have a tab that goes the other way. First, break the tab so that it's a very narrow tab, one that occupies the same space as the one on the low-beam tab (it only needs a little to grab). Then take some needle-nose pliars, and break the rails as much as possible...Then, plug your newly-mauled 9005 bulbs into the low-beam sockets, they should go in as easly as the low-beams. Voila! significantly brighter light without the cost, or risk of heat-cracking your light clusters with 100w bulbs that cost 60 bucks.

The tab on the left has been mostly broken off (a little more mostly than I had origionally intended, but it works great.)

The two rails have been taken almost all the way out.
