The second event at North Hills this season saw some pretty crappy conditions, especially considering we had almost 90 degree sunny weather for the week preceeding. It was about 45 degrees with rain, but the turnout was still more than 100 cars, phenomenal for such crappy weather. The course was a short one, with a long straightaway, a skidpad, and a quasi-slalom with a pivot, connected by some 90 degree sweepers. I'm not sure if the rain washing the lines away is to blame, but the course was especially difficult to find, I think almost everyone had an off course or was lost at one point or another. I was one of the confused, I found the course on my 2nd and 3rd runs, but my first and, most importantly, last run (when it was almost dry pavement) i shot by the entrance to the skidpad. I had one okay run, which was actually pretty good in CSP (1st i think), but for some reason the (that day) underpopulated Street Modified category was merged with CSP, bringing a couple of modified AWD turbo talons into the fray (one with quite a bit more than 300 horses and a pilot who shares my first name :) ). Scott beat the pants off me on his last run, and had me by a bit on his 3rd run (which I probably would have been able to answer if my brain had been engaged). We CSP guys tend to joke about the catch-all nature of our class..."Oh, that McLaren F1? Dunno where that goes...put it in CSP with the JGTC R34 Skyline and the Jordan Honda Formua car". The results are posted now, but there seems to be some errors in the results page, for example most people's 4th (and usually fastest) runs aren't up there...not sure why. Will probably be fixed by the time you get there. The poor weather and my poor performance were bookends to one shining moment, where I got a ride in a 1994 Lamboroghini Diablo VT (Black, just like the countach in Cannonball Run ;) )...it is a VERY angry, snarling V-12 with some wheels and sexy bodywork on it... and it goes like a cheetah with it's tail on fire above 3000 RPM. I look forward to seeing (and photographing) it again soon!
