Nothing local in mid-April, so John W, Jodie, Rico and I headed north about 90 miles for the Misery Bay Region's first event of the season in Meadeville, PA. This is the 2nd time I've run with this great group of people, and the 2nd time it's POURED rain the entire time. (I hope they don't start blaming me). This is a fun lot to drive in the rain (I don't know it any other way), and though their lot isn't huge, they make the most of it with multiple laps, which is a real treat (as are the 60+ second runs). My first run was pretty good, and earned me the FTD spot...which I would improve on and hold the entire day, enjoying the on-the-edge fun in the rain until TREACHEROUS John W in his red GS-R sniped me by two tenths...I had a chance to answer the challenge on my last run, and probably would have laid the smack down, but I got a little too busy in the slalom and had to basically park next to a 5-second penalty cone to avoid hitting it. The in-car camera footage of this incident would require some south-park style censorship BEEPS. So, John got FTD, and I got second overall and first of the street prepared, and thankfully we're in seperate classes so we both got some nice trophies. Jodie had fun making up her own courses for the day, but the Misery Bay guys know how to give awards, so she left with some Coke for longest distance travelled and an award for most off-courses. Rico and I had an adventure on the way back when his Prelude started loosing power on the highway...slow wipers, dim bulbs at first, then a lack of acceleration (fuel pump not pumping hard enough I think)...we made it to an exit, where the car promptly died completely in an intersection. Some friendly folks in a van hopped out to help us push it to a gas station, where we stood in the pouring rain trying to figure out what the problem was. Fortunately, we found a loose alternator cable from when we put his red valve cover on (don't ask why the prelude has alternator cables running over the valve cover), and that seemed to have been the problem...we were just destined to be soaked all day.
